Listen to YouTube as Audio, Not Video

Paste a YouTube link into the box above and it joins the queue. TubeMixLab looks up the title and thumbnail, prepares the audio as an MP3, and starts playing it in the page — no video loading, no app, no account. Music while you work, podcasts and interviews, lectures, live sets: anything on YouTube you'd rather hear than watch.

Build a Queue and Let It Play

Paste as many links as you like. Each one shows its progress in the queue, and tracks play back to back in the order you added them. Use the previous and next buttons or the seek bar in the player, remove anything you've had enough of, and the queue keeps going. On phones, the track title and artwork appear in the lock-screen and notification controls in most browsers, so you can pause or skip without opening the tab.

Download Any Track as MP3

Every track in the queue has a download button. The file is a standard MP3 named after the video, the same one you'd get from the YouTube to MP3 converter — so you can listen now and keep it for an MP3 player, a car stereo or a phone's offline library.

Audio Quality

The toggle above the player defaults to 128 kbps, which is ready sooner and sounds fine for listening on speakers or earbuds. Switch to 320 kbps before adding a track if you intend to download it and want the best quality the source allows. Either way, the audio can't be better than YouTube's own for that video.

Player vs. Converter vs. Cutter

Want just the file? The converter is the shortest route. Want one section of a video rather than the whole thing? The YouTube audio cutter lets you set exact start and end times first. Want several clips stitched into one file? That's the YouTube MP3 mixer. This page is for listening: a queue you can hear straight away, with downloads on the side.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the YouTube MP3 player free?

Yes. Listening and downloading are free, with no account and nothing to install.

Does it keep playing when I switch apps or lock my phone?

In most current mobile browsers, yes — the audio is a normal in-page player, so it behaves like any other web audio: it keeps going in the background and shows the track title and thumbnail in your phone's lock-screen or notification controls, with play, pause, next and previous. Some browsers still pause web audio when the tab is hidden; if yours does, download the track and play it in a music app instead.

Can I paste a playlist link?

Not as a whole. Paste each video's link one at a time and they queue up in order. A watch link that also contains a list parameter works — only the video in it is added.

Why does a track say "Preparing audio" before it plays?

The audio is fetched and converted to MP3 once on TubeMixLab's servers, then streamed to the page. A typical song is ready in well under a minute, and the same video is quicker the next time because the source is cached for a week.

What's the difference between this and the converter?

The converter makes one MP3 for you to download. The player builds a queue you listen to in the browser, and every track in it can also be downloaded. If you just want the file, the converter is the shorter route.
