How to Trim YouTube Audio
Published August 18, 2026
This walks through cutting an exact section out of a single YouTube video's audio using the TubeMixLab audio cutter — pasting a link, selecting the section, previewing it, and exporting an MP3.
1. Open the audio cutter
Go to the YouTube Audio Cutter. It's built around a single clip, so you won't see the "add clip" or reordering controls that the full mixer has — just one clip and its trim controls.
2. Paste your YouTube link
Paste the video's URL into the input field. TubeMixLab looks up the title, channel and thumbnail, and loads the clip's waveform once it's ready.
3. Select the exact section
Drag the In and Out handles on the waveform to the start and end points you want. If you already know the exact timestamps, type them directly into the In and Out fields instead — either "minutes:seconds" or plain seconds both work. The Length field updates live as you adjust either end.
4. Preview before exporting
Click "Watch video" to load the embedded player and check your selection against the original video, or click anywhere in the waveform to move the playhead and jump the preview to that point. This is the easiest way to confirm you've got the exact start and end you want before you export.
5. Export and download
Optionally add a short Fade in / Fade out (in seconds) so the cut doesn't start or end abruptly, and adjust the volume slider if needed. Then click "Export Clip". TubeMixLab downloads the source audio, cuts your selected section, and renders it to MP3 — you'll see a progress bar while it works, then a play button and Download link once it's done.
Tips
- Only the audio between the In and Out handles is exported — everything outside that range is discarded, not just muted.
- If you don't know the exact timestamps yet, drag the handles roughly into place first, then fine-tune using the In/Out text fields or the arrow keys while a handle is focused.
- Need more than one section, or clips from more than one video? Use the YouTube MP3 Mixer instead — the same trim controls, with support for adding and combining several clips.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I set the exact start and end time instead of dragging?
Yes. Type timestamps directly into the In and Out fields — the waveform handles move to match.
Can I preview my selection before exporting?
Yes — click "Watch video" to check it against the original video, or click the waveform to move the playhead and preview from that point.
What audio quality does the trimmed MP3 use?
Exports are encoded at 320kbps MP3.
Can I trim more than one section from the same video?
The cutter page handles one section at a time. For multiple sections — from the same video or different ones — use the YouTube MP3 Mixer, which supports adding several clips.
