Which Shorts links work
A Short is a normal YouTube video shown in a vertical player, so it has the same 11-character video ID as any other video. TubeMixLab reads that ID out of whatever link you paste and ignores the rest. All of these forms load:

What doesn't work is a link with no video ID in it: the Shorts feed itself, a channel's Shorts tab, or a search page. Pasting one of those shows "That doesn't look like a YouTube link." Open the individual Short first, then copy its link.
Convert a whole Short to MP3
- Copy the Shorts link. In the YouTube app, tap Share on the Short and choose Copy link. On desktop, copy the address bar.
- Open the YouTube to MP3 converter and paste the link into the input box. Pasting starts the lookup on its own; if you typed the link, press Enter.
- Check the preview. Within a few seconds the Short's title, thumbnail and length appear under the box, along with a shortened
youtu.beaddress so you can confirm it picked up the right video. - Pick a quality with the 128 kbps / 320 kbps toggle. It defaults to 320.

On a phone
The page is the same on mobile; the layout just stacks vertically. Copy the link from the YouTube app's Share menu, switch to your browser, paste it and follow the same steps. 128 or 320 kbps?
Shorts are short, so file size barely matters: a 60-second Short is about 2.4 MB at 320 kbps and about 1 MB at 128 kbps. Leave it on 320 unless you're collecting hundreds of them.
One thing to know: the MP3 can't sound better than YouTube's own audio for that Short. A Short recorded on a phone in a noisy room will still sound like that at 320 kbps. The higher setting just avoids adding any further loss.
Saving only part of a Short
Often the useful bit of a Short is a few seconds long: a sound, a line of dialogue, the drop in a song. For that, don't convert the whole thing and trim it elsewhere. Paste the same Shorts link into the YouTube audio cutter, which loads a waveform of the Short so you can choose the section before anything is rendered.

Common problems
- "That doesn't look like a YouTube link." The pasted text has no video ID in it. Check you copied the link to a specific Short rather than a feed, channel or search page, and that nothing got cut off while copying.
- "Couldn't load that link. Check the URL and try again." Usually the Short is private, deleted, or restricted in a way that blocks playback without signing in. Occasionally it's a temporary failure fetching from YouTube; paste the link once more before giving up.
- "You're doing that too fast." The converter rate-limits rapid repeated requests from one connection. Wait a moment and try again.
- The download didn't start. A status line next to the button reads "Right-click and save if it didn't start" once the file is ready. On a phone, long-press the button instead. If you opened the page inside another app's built-in browser (from a chat or social app), it may block downloads entirely; open the link in Chrome or Safari.
- The MP3 is silent or sounds different from the Short. TubeMixLab converts the audio track YouTube serves for that video. If the Short's music was muted or replaced by YouTube, the MP3 reflects that.
